Do you play hockey? Other sports?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Ice Hockey : One Thread

Since this is the first question, I'll start real simple. Do you play hockey? How long have you played? How did you start? And how often do you play?

If you're not a hockey player, do you play other sports? If you don't now, did you used to? What made you stop?

I'm just curious to see what kind of sports interests we have out there in internet land.

hmm yes i do play hockey but i've only been playing for two years...it is my favorite thing in the world! makes me feel so good. the only problem is that i live in louisiana where there is only one league in my city wtih only 200 or so people. its growing pretty fast though. we do have a couple camps and a hockey team (part of the East Coast Hockey League) called the kingfish who come to some of our practices and help us out a bit. hey check out the youth league's homepage: www.bryih.com , it needs some updating...but thats ok. well i'm glad you had fun at camp!!

i play hockey. (hi, ann. long time no talk.) i have for only one season at my college in minnesota. this season, we're in a league and playing between 4 and 6 times a week, counting practices. we should improve a lot. maybe next year, we'll even go varsity.

in high school, i played scocer, basketball and softball, until i screwed up my right shoulder playing in the outfield my sophomore year. i ran track, too. now, i play hockey in the fall and winter, play broomball all winter, and run to class when i'm late.

Hey, yeah I play hockey:) It's the best sport ever! I play with the boys cuz gurlz aren't allowed to hit and I'm not used to that! I've grown up with hockey all my life and I love it! I'll never stop playing! Keep hitting gurlz!!

YUp, I play hockey too.But I play in england, I've been playing for exactly a year(to the day since I started skating). I play for 2 teams, a girlz one and a boyz on. I play LW on the boys and RD on the gurlz. I train 4 times a week, but often have 1 or 2 games on top of that (which makes my life pretty hectic). You may be asking how I play for 2 teams having only been skating let alone playing for a year...the answer is Hockey School...if you ever get the chance to go on 1, do it...they are the best fun ever....don't worry if u think u will be the only girl...that just makes it more fun. I you wanna e-mail me to chat about hockey stuff...feel free.

Hockey...What's Hockey. Just Kidding, yeah I play hockey for the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears way up in Northern Minnesota and next season Im off to St. Cloud or St. Mary's. Which is, by the way, the birthplace of U.S. hockey and home to the Hockey Hall of Fame and the biggest hockey stick in the world!!! I used to play softball, soccer, and b-ball but I finally found my passion. No, not the Backstreet Boys, HOCKEY!!! I look forward to talking to other players so E-Mail me.

Yea, of course i play hockey! doesn't everyone?! :o) Ok, well maybe not..but they should right? this is my third year playing here in Massachusetts. it's just so much fun!! i play about 3 or 4 times a week, but next year my school might be getting a team, so i will get to play a lot more. It would be a boys team, but oh well...i HOPE i can handle it. I used to play soccer...i played for about 8 or 9 years (since i was 5)but then i got tired of it. That's when i found out that hockey was the best sport around and started playing that instead. I also ran track my freshman and sophmore years, but it was too much to do that 6 days a week ( with a jerk for a coach) and to play hockey 3 or 4 times. Besides i didn't really enjoy running anyway. This year i want to try playing lacross..it seems pretty fun, anyone have any tips?. i guess I'll see how it works out..i 've heard that it's a little like hockey. Anyway, anyone who wants too can email me. I'm pretty good about getting back to people :)

Yes, I play hockey!! And in the desert no less!! I've been playing ice hockey for about 4 months now, ever since an ice rink opened near by. I live in Phoenix and have been watching hockey since we got an NHL team. I play LW or Center for a women's team that last season had a dubious record of 1 win & 11 losses including playoffs. I'm on a different team this time an so far we have 1 tie, no losses or wins. Some of my teamates went to that Vegas tournament you were at: I think they were the Lady Knights. Good Luck with your season!

Dear Sir, It is my wishes to draw you this line. I am Yeboah Kwame, Ghanaian and 17 years .I am a talented footballer and my ambition is to play for your club. Due to it’s hard work and performance. I would like to give you an account of myself concerning football. I started playing at the age of ten for Hassacas a colts team and graduated to the under 17 side. Of the club. I won the Goal king with 20 goals when the team won the Regional colts league. This was my first season at the under 17 side. I also a Captained my school team for one year and during my year we won the inter school football competition and for the first time in my life I won the best player of the competition which was held in the region. Upon my high performance I was called to the Regional team for the Regional competition, which I was on target for the Goal king, and I won the best promising star as well. More over, due to my effort I was selected to play for the National Academicals of Ghana and with more determination and successful display of talent, I was among the twenty five players which formed the National under 17 side which we didn’t qualified for the World cup due to late preparation of the team. In all, I would be very grateful if with consutbit with your club management to grant me the opportunity to play for your youth side. For all that achievement mention so far can be supported with Certificates and picture to testify the truth in what I have said. Thank you. It’s me, Yeboah Kwame.

I didn't know there were any other sports! I play, and have played since I was a young kid. I grew up in Erie, PA., Where it was under snow 9 months out of the year. I started skating when I was only 2, and picked up my first stick at three. I was the first freshman to ever make the varsity hockey team at my high school. Unfortunatly, I never got to play a season game. At the end of our training camp, there were several scrimmage games scheduled, and the last scrim. was against our rival school. In the first period, I delivered a hip- check to a guy three times my size, and planted him. Unhappy about it, his third period revenge was to cross-check me high on the shoulders, and along the boards. My skates got cought between the boards and the ice, and everything from the knees up turned, but from the knees down did not. Needless to say, I was done. I was lucky though. Nothing tore! However, I endured 4 years of casts and rehab just to walk normally, and I was told I would never play again. Whatever!!! After 12 years away from the best game in the world, I now play roller and ice hockey here in PHX AZ. I was cleared by a doctor to play in 1997, and have religously played at least 3 times a week ever since. This game is life to me, and I can never get enough. To all of you out there that think that roller hockey isn't real hockey because it's not played on ice... come play me!!! And to all who think the hitting in football is heavier than the hitting in hockey, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about!!! :)
