Value of old pewter plates

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Exchange: A Forum for Antiques and The Arts : One Thread

I have an old pewter plate that has a design of a maple tree, where the leafs are oversized, on the front of the plate. On the back of plate are three angel stamps, the angel is holding a sword in it's right hand and something else in it's left hand. Directly above the angel are some words that arch around it. They are unclear to me, but appear to be in old English or maybe Latin. On the right side of the angel, at about the middle, is the letter C. On the left side of the angel, opposite the C is the letter R. At the right foot of the angel is the number 74. The plate has a nice patina, and appears to be quite old. I would appreciate any information as to the maker and history of the plate, also what it might be worth. Thank you
