This is a Question and Answer type of forum that is meant to supplement, not replace the fj.life.in-japan newsgroup. Whereas USENET has a high noise level, this forum is meant to be a help for people searching for information on life in Japan.

Many of the topics that have already been discussed on fj.life.in-japan keep reappearing, probably because there is no good way to search for archived content. Hopefully, this will be the way to store such content, instead of having to trudge through something like deja.com with zillions of banner ads.
