Did anyone notice that the new foreign-speaking doctor (sorry I forgot his name) bears a striking resemblance to George Clooney?

Yes, he does look alot like Clooney and the way they had him interacting with Carol was disurbing....felt TO MUCH like he was a "Doug" replacement! His closeness to the child he found in the ambulence reminded me alot of Doug's style with children also...not sure if I like this at all. I am willing to accept a new character as long as it is really a NEW character and not a mimic of one!

Dena - I agree with you. The whole thing smelled of pseudo-Doug. I can just see the writers try to make them into a couple so that there will be a conflict when Doug reappears later this season. I would not be happy if they decided to pair them together!

That was my reaction, too. They were so obviously setting him up as the Resident Hunk, making him sooooooo perfect. And it also seemed to me that they were setting him and Carol up for Future Romance. It really annoyed me, and was the only part of this show I really didn't like.

I agree. Didn't like it if that's where this going If "Carol" is leaving the show, why bring in another "Doug?" I also missed the 2nd half of the show...can someone fill me in...?

It was very obvious a Doug replacement, and I hate when shows do that, but I have to say --- the guy was gorgeous! George who?

At first I pegged Kovac as a Clooney placebo, but by the end of the episode I was into the character. The accent worried me tremendously, but the actor seemed to use it to his advantage. I'm not sure if a Bosnia refugee could really be a duplicate Doug Ross: it would take some terrible writing to make that happen. Hopefully we won't have too much "the suffering of my people" going on. He might have been my favorite part of the episode.

Yeah- pretty much everyone in North America!!

Yes, definitely a resemblance to Clooney in several ways, but hopefully will turn out to be a very different character, given his Bosnia/Croatian war background, etc. He definitely presented as a more mature person than Doug did in the beginning of the series. I'm not surprised that one of his roles on the show this season may be to be somehow connected to Carol, but since I really still think that Carol will be leaving to be with Doug, Luca will probably only serve to make her realize how much she loves Doug.

That's funny, I thought Luka looked like Carter. Maybe 'cuz I'm getting used to the idea that Clooney is not coming back that I just don't think about Doug that much. I was so annoyed by the way they had Carol push him away at the end of last season (SO ridiculous) that I just got sick of the whole thing. I would actually say that Luka is more of a throwback to Carter's old "sensitive sweet young guy helping child patients" days. I didn't see hints of Carol falling for him, just her appreciation of doctors who know when to buck authority in the name of helping patients (esp. little kids). Finally, I, too, hope that they won't choose to highlight the Bosnian suffering angle (a la the Mobolage torture plot).

It is about time they started adding more foreign doctors. Most hospitals are full of them and there was only a few on er. I think it will add a nice touch. Also if I ever had a doctor who looked like that I might have actually gone to my follow up visits and maybe have been sick more ofter

I also thought the new Doctor looked like Carter. There was no resemblance to Clooney's character at all in my opinion. The new Doctor was mature and seemed more stable than Clooney's character. His genuine manner with children and people was appealling. He recycled the unused parts in a medical kit and when he expressed the enlightened alternative medical view that fever has a purpose in an illness, I was impressed.

His name is Goran Visnjic and he doesn't look like the rat George Clooney.
