Sunset Magazine did a piece on how to make outdoor ovens. Not sure which issue.

I think the Sunset article was spring, 1998. It told how to make an oven using fire-bricks for a base and made with earth and concrete over a form. Use a empty tin can to make chimny. The only hard part would be the door.
