What is the difference between this Life in Japan forum and the fj.life.in-japan newsgroup?

Life in Japan is a web based discussion group, which can also be followed by e-mail. You can sign up for e-mail alerts and get the posts delivered straight to your mailbox.The newsgroup fj.life.in-japan has consistantly been plagued with flames, off topic rambling, etc. This forum is an attempt to bring back a little sanity.
