NEW YORK, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Nasdaq, the U.S. electronic stock market, said on Friday its stock quotes were now correct after a technical glitch had fouled up price reports.

``We had a small software problem that affected the tape reporting, but not the trades, which took place real time,'' said Patrick Campbell, Nasdaq chief operating officer. ``The software problem was in the handoff to our vendors,'' who disseminate Nasdaq quotes via various news organizations and on the Internet.

Campbell said the problems occurred as Nasdaq ran a diagnostic test, slowing down the data flow to vendors.

Campbell said he did not yet know which part of the diagnostic test had caused the problem.

This was the second technical glitch suffered by Nasdaq this week. On Wednesday, a glitch knocked out three smaller electronic stock-trading networks.
