Looking for Milking Devon cattle

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am looking for a fairly local source to purchase Milking Devon cattle. We are thinking of a homestead dairy animal, and the idea of a multi purpose animal is an interesting one. We live in Indiana; wonder were the closest farm might be? P.S. We have done dairy goats, years ago, so we have some idea what we are getting into!

There is a magazine called Small Farm Today that nearly always has a list where one might make contact with specific breed associations. It is at: http://www.smallfarmtoday.com

There is an upcoming weekend of events and seminars hosted by them, in Columbia, Missouri. Many seminars and classes of interest are usually listed, so you might wish to ask about that also.

Go to www.ruralheritage.com Search until you find Drew Conroy's e- mail. He raises them.

Check with the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy at www.albc-usa.org/ They have a breeders directory to help people find others interested in hard to find breeds.

Good Luck
