linkThe agency always retains the right to ground unsafe operators, Garvey said, although the Transportation Department said in recent days that a lack of Y2K readiness does not necessarily constitute a safety threat.

Thanks, this one really cracks me up. Kinda brings back memories of one time I flew Mexicana Airlines to Cancun. Pretty damn scary even before we had to worry about Y2K bugs!!

lisa,Have you located in print anywhere other than this article where the Trans. Dept. said "a lack of Y2K readiness does not necessarily constitute a safety threat."? It would be interesting to see the rationale behind that statement and how they plan to differentiate between the safe and non-safe stages of readiness. Very curious thing to say, especially since it says right on the top of their home page "Safety is our top priority".
