generator enclosure

Hi! Would anyone have any more ideas on where to either buy or plans to build an electric generator(portable gasoline powered-6kw) enclosure? We would really like to reduce the noise level.

Not sure how much this will help, but this is my setup.

I have my generator in a metal garden shed ... If I was doing it again, I would probably use a wooden shed and trade some noise reduction for more chance of a fire spreading ... 5 or 6 kw generators throw off a lot of heat, so you really cannot insulate the walls much ... Even with a large vent, I still have to leave the shed doors partly open.

I installed a car muffler connected to the generator via a piece of flexible exhaust pipe welded to some adapter fittings. The muffler sits on about 4" of compressed fiberglass insulation which in turn is on top of concrete blocks which bring it up to the level of the old exhaust on the engine. A short tailpipe is hung from a muffler hanger where it exits the wall.

Outside the exhaust pipe is directed into some stacked concrete blocks at a 45 degree angle to deflect the exhaust noise off to the side and into the bush.

I recently saw a new model Honda generator, 3000 watts, with a built in inverter for very "clean" power. It was in a double-insulated "box", and rated at only 58 dba. very quiet. the price was $1995., so not cheap.
