* COOPERATIVE PREPS : Aladdin Lamps and Katadyn Water Filters

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

This is your last chance to join us in the first cooperative order of Aladdin Incandescent Table Lamps (Tall, Aluminium Model). The price of the lamps and spare parts are less than the prices listed at www.lehmans.com. If you would like more information about these non-pressurized, indoor kerosene/lamp oil burning lamps, please email me by Friday (October 22, 1999) at the following email address: faryna@groupmail.com .

A business who wishes to remain anonymous in order that they not lose their dealer/distributor status is also offering us an opportunity to buy Katadyn filters at costs significantly below the suggested retail price. Again, we will need to come up with a minimum of 10 orders. Any of these three models may be ordered: Katadyn drip filter (similar to the British Berkefield unit), Katadyn pocket filter, and the large disaster relief sized filter. I will be out of town for a day or so, but if you send an email to me at faryna@groupmail.com indicating your interest, I will send you descriptions of the unit, prices, and the anticipated timeline in which we have to make order decisions, collect order payments, and when to expect delivery of orders.

Sincerely,
Stan Faryna

Cheaper than a Katadyn (even at cost) is the Pure Water filter. See following text from my Y2K Prep Notes. (The best ideas from all my research. They are posted here under their various topics. Food, water, etc. Save you a bunch of $ and valuasble time.) Has one ceramic cartridge instead of four, and no fancy housing. So it costs much less and has the advantage of being very portable. The Katadyn ceramic filter has pores no larger than .2 microns. The ceramic filter in the 3Pocket Filter2 model can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled 300 times, to filter 13,000 gallons. $269. www.y2ksupplies.com - PUR walter filters combine carbon with an iodated resin element, removing bacteria, viruses and giardia. 3The Scout2 sells for $89. Will filter 400 liters. www.backcountrygear.com - Pure Water filters from $25. www.pwgazette.com/gravity.htm (940) 382-3814 Same ceramic cartridge as the expensive brands. (They have 4 cartridges in a fancy container. This is one handy portable cartridge.) This is the one we chose ourselves.
