SCAM or REAL?? Get RX medicines really cheap?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

webmeds@medicines.md Supposedly, if you send a blank e-mail to this address, (no text in subject line or body), you will be replied to by a robot server that gives you details on how to stock up on RX medicines for Y2K by LEGALLY buying from outside of the USA.

Apparently, there must be a legal loophole in the Customs or FDA rules to allow this.

There must be a string attached...it will cost you $149 for the report! I cannot make use of this because I am in Canada.

Has anyone seen this before, or has it already been posted? I am categorizing it under HEALTH/MEDICINE for archival purposes.

The e-mail states that this report will cease to be made available after NOV 15. Another gimmick to get you to buy it now? I have been aware of this for about 2 months, but forgot about it until I got my "Final Notice" e-mail today!

Do with it as you please.

Don't even think about paying for that bullsh*t.

Yeah,
I originally found this at MichaelHyatt.com and have been receiving the same emails as you. I was concerned about my Mom's need for synthroid.

However, once I got the email, I could see that it was clearly not for me. I do not do business with people who use high pressure hyberbole and scare tactics to make me "take action" today, right now, before I lose the opportunity! LOL

My Momma will just have to find a local doctor who will prescribe extra meds. These folks are just to slimy for my tastes.

On Karen Anderson's Y2K Women website a couple of months ago she advertised a book at this price entitled "Y2K Prescription Medicine Survival Guide: How to Acquire Prescription Medicines." She said she had purchased four at the $149 to lend to anyone who did not have the money to purchase it. Just write to her with your situation. I did. I received a loaner copy, and she told me that the doctor who she got it from GAVE her 100 to lend out. I have done all of the steps described in this informative book and on Friday (payday)will be sending my order for six months of prescription medications necessary for survival to a doctor overseas associated with the American doctor.

There is nothing illegal about it. There are only certain steps which one must take in order to assure that their package goes through Customs and is received by them without a big hassle. On "60 Minutes" Sunday night they featured senior citizens who would otherwise die because they cannot afford the inflated drug prices in the USA being taken by bus into Canada, by an organization for seniors, to a sympathetic pharmacist. They could get their medications for half what it cost here. The drug companies replied on the show that they needed American's money for continuing research, but the reporter interviewed a senior advocate who said that this was poppycock...they already were making a huge, huge profit and could well afford to give it to us at Mexican and Canadian prices.

It is the drug companies and not those who try to help us to circumvent a lousey system and our health plans being unwilling to even let us have a 3-month supply ahead, with whom we need to be indignant and calling them appropriate robber baron-type names!

I stand corrected. My apologies.

I plunked down the $149, which offered a 30 day money-back guarantee. I found the material excellent, you can indeed order legally from out of the U.S. as long as you do it in a certain way. Unfortunately, the medicine that I need was not available, so I returned the material and got my money back. (I have been able to stock up 7 months worth by just re-filling as soon as I am permitted, so I am hoping that will be long enough. It is not immediate life-and-death, so I'm not as concerned as some people undoubtedly would be.)
