I need a list of items that may be of use for first aid and more that can be procured over-the-counter. Also any other items that should be in the home.

You should stock up on water, food that will not spoil, flashlights might be needed, and batteries.

May I also suggest that you prepare for hypothermia by buying plenty of firewood (if you have a fireplace). There's a possibility that we could lose heat in our homes.
