Would like more history and a value on a lithograph on canvas of "Mother and Child" dated 1915 done by Gari (Julius) Melchers. I know he was an American who studied in Europe, and this particular portrait was one of his best works. This particular lithograph was sent to an individual in Texas from the Encyclopedia Britannica in 1969. It is still in its mailing tube, postmarked Oct 1, '69. The lithograph itself has "The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL" on the bottom left side, Gary Melcher's name and DOB-DOD bottom middle, and "Litho in U.S.A." bottom right side. Some information was found on Melchers in our old World Book Encyclopedia, copyright 1959. What is the best way to preserve it? How should it be framed, if at all? Can anyone help?
