Do our trends have to be internally consistent?

Paul Harmon, an IT analyst who has written several different newsletters for Cutter over the past fifteen years and currently writes COMPONENT DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES for us made an interesting point regarding the trends the Council comes up with. He feels it's important that that they be "internally consistent." They should fit, or reflect, a general paradigm or matrix.

Paul also suggested that we consider every trend in both an IT context and a business context, and examine how each one fits with, or plays against, the other trends we're coming up with.

This approach would certainly make for a stronger statement and PR/marketing message as well as lending added coherence to the process and our output.

What do you all think???
