Houseplants & H2O

Hi:

I was just watering my houseplants and thought about what a friend of mine did with hers when she was working out of state for several months at a time. She would take plastic bags (the kind where light could get through to the plants and put her plants in the plastic bags after watering them well and tie the bags at the top leaving just a small hole at the top for air to move in and out of the bags, thus making terrariums. She would come back after several months and her plants would still be alive, maybe not the healthiest, but alive and they would revive quickly after she got back and gave them loving care. This would be a way to save precious water if we have a shortage of water supplies and yet we could save our houseplants. Any other water saving suggestions from those of you out there?
