I know that door restraints are now code requirement on new installation and some upgrades. I am interested in how widespead the problem of people entrapped in an elevator opening the doors and attempting to escape was. Is there any literature out there (on the Internet or otherwise) which discusses how frequent the escape attempts were and/or the reasons people attempted to escape and the need for code revision to require the installation of door restraints.
