JAL and KAL routing computers down since Wednesday affecting thousands of freight. They have no clue about the status of any shipment!

This is probably dumb, but who are jal and kal? Do we know why their computers are down?

Airlines! Japanese and Korean. Is this a SAP thing?

Japan Airlines and Korean Airlines. When asked whether this was y2k related they emphatically denied it was.

Still, this shows the fragility of transportation.

Sandwich, this sounds important, but until you can give us more details, such as a link where we can verify your claim, or point us to a news article somewhere, it's just another waisted bandwith thread.

Hey 'Not" your "it's just another waisted bandwith thread" is a bit (or byte?) foolish. Now the TB2000 net reporters can surf to find links and more info, etc. First one to scoop the news gets four asterisks! ****

I just did a search of some of the newswires and couldn't find anything. If anyone else can come up with a link, it would be appreciated.

My wife uses JAL and KAL to ship freight in her business. This is 1st hand news!

In reply to when the freight will be sorted out and delivered, the manager there said they have no manual work-arounds and suggested (the customer) can bring a truck into their warehouse dock and search for it among the thoussands of unsorted packages.

Don't take my word for it, if you want to verify this, try sending some package through them.

And again, it might not be a y2k related problem but it does illustrate the helplessness we are without our computers.
