Anyone from old Portugal Lisbon mission?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Portugal Porto Mission : One Thread

I am checking to see if anyone from the old Portugal Lisbon mission is out there that served between 1981 and 1982? I can't find a web site that caters to us, so I am checking to see if anyone is hitting this web site. I served in Lisbon, Porto and Almada. I would welcome any response! Thanks p.s. no attachments.

I was there from 79-81. I don't know of any place that includes us guys. I guess we're too old. When did you start in 81? I left in October 81. My last area was Villa Nova De Gaia.

Served from Feb. 1977 to Feb. 1979 with President W. Lynn Pinegar and Allen K. Coryell respectively. Ran into President Pinegar last year when his grandsons basketball team from Brighton was playing Bingham in the semi-finals. I had to agree to cheer for his team, but only when his grandson had the ball! FYI I was serving in the Porto are when the announcement on the Priesthood was given. What a wonderful thing to have happen and especially during my mission. I miss Portugal a lot but am blessed in that my son is serving in Sao Paulo Brazil and we are planning on getting him in a year and a half. I had ten Brazilian companions and hope to be able to see some of them for the first time in 20 years. My nephew Elder Joseph Fitzgerald is waiting for his visa so that he can go to Porto. I served in the old Portugal Lisbon Mission from June 1983 until July 1985. In my internet travels, I have found that the three missions created from the original each have their own website. The Lisbon South mission seems to have the most information about the original mission and still has the original mission home and addresses. I have found several missionaries listed at the Lisbon South website that were from the original Portugal mission. My recommendation is to register at each of the three websites until someone is able to create the original Portugal mission website for us old timers.

I left in January of 82 and served for 18 months. All one mission then and only 18 months. First time to this site.

Served in Coimbra for 2 weeks and then to the Azores, Porto, Lisboa, and back to Porto.

Would love to be anywhere in Portugal at this very moment - smelling the air and just looking at anything Portuguese !
