What's the joke on "latest thoughts on neighbors" thread?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Having read the thread of the last couple days, I was astounded by the way the trolls were being fed by those that are always telling everyone "Don't feed the trolls!" The conehead that kept coming on to call the posters "psycho" or "Norman Bates" etc.

That said, I think ther were some very good postings within, such as the Virginian's definition of Christianity toward the top of the thread, ranging to the very steeped-in-reality posts by It's@coming and Killer.

With the little time that remains, let ther be a distinction made between "neighbors" and "predators" for future reference. Nobody implied, nor even hinted to being ready to shoot the first hungery soul the happened up their drive, and most people that are preparing have stated openly that they want to do what they can to help those in need, along with stating that they were indeed putting a portion by for this very purpose.

However, "predators" will be an entirely different matter. One jerk stated that he'd rather let them have all of his stuff, and try to survive without. This is obvious idiocy, and if you folks can't tell when you're being baited, it's no wonder you need "troll alerts," as you refer to them.

I'm of the mind that even the acclaimed infomagic is somewhat of a polly, and precious little time remains to finish what must be done, so why is so much being wasted on useless drivel with the morons that come in just to drive you crazy? Even the doomers have a tendency towards complacency, as the entire prep process is very draining, both physically and emotionally. Let's use the energy in a more constructive manner, and get the brains and tailbones in gear. Ther are alot of "nubies" coming in to learn something, even at this eleventh hour. Don't drive them away by catering unnecessarily to the baser intellect of the insincere.

So-o-o-o-o, what are your thoughts? (Not you polly-dork, nobody cares any longer what a polly-troll has to say).

I dunno. Missed the thread, but my guess is that most of us are about as prepped as we're gonna get and feel that with the time left a real newbie can't get there from here. Stan's 14 day reminders aside, there isn't much here for a newbie except the banter.

Would steer any new person to the *about* at the top of this forum. Good prep stuff w/o the noise.

What the heck, feeding the trolls is a good way of killing time in between waiting for market crashes and bank runs. Then they will disappear magically overnight!

@@@@@@@@@,

I know a good sport when I see one, but feeding some of these trolls is like shooting fish in a barrel. These morons on the above- mentioned thread were in serious need of a head extractor, (industrial strength).

How bad do you think Y2k problems will be, Patrick?

Tom...

It has been my contention from years ago that the problems we are facing are more in the economic/political realm, with y2k being nothing more than the linchpin that gets pulled to bring this house of cards a'tumbling. If you knew who your "leaders" really were...

I think we'll be lucky to get by with a 10.5.

This is exactly why people hate you doomers. The question is IF anything will happen, not WHEN! Even that cruddy movie out on NBC starts that advertisments with "WHAT IF THEY ARE RIGHT".

Get a grip people, your memes are showing.
