Mac - Photoshop 5.5 user, do I have to have special digital software to use the camera and put the photo into photoshop?

I am still confused about how the camera works with the computer. I see that when looking at specifications, there are interfaces to deal with. I do not have USB ports, have one SCSI port left (I think), and do not want to go parallel or serial as those ports are also taken (I have alot of peripherals - Nikon Coolscan, ZIP drive, Flatbed scanner, color printer, and CD burner). I had hoped to just be able to use the camera with a floppy and then take the floppy and insert it into the computer and open it in photoshop. Is this possible?

Ok Sherry, my knowledge of Macs is limited, but it sounds like you have all your ports used up by devices and it sounds like you have not bought a Digital Camera yet. It looks like you have about 3 choices. and SCSI is not one of them.

The first is like you suggested, a (Sony)floppy disk camera. Sony's floppy disk cameras are great, but limited in resolution to either 1280x960(FD88) or 1024x768 for the FD91(Fantastic 14x optical zoom lens) Both cameras should work fine with your MAC

Second Choice: Any other camera you like but include a the cost of $60 Parallel port Card Reader to trasfer your files via the Parallel port(I know you said you do not want to use the Parallel port, but if you have a Parallel port Zip drive then it is just a matter of briefly disconnectiong the printer while you download your pictures)

Third Choice is to select a camera (Olympus(?))that uses a floppy drive addapter.(insert adapter into floppy drive and download foles.

Your very first question: I am not 100% sure. Those camera's that require a direct cable connection to the Computer have software for trasferring the file over. Theyalso supply cheap programs for photo editting. Since you have Photoshop, you need not load that software Hope this helps you out.

Macs do not have a paralle port, only PC's ahve those. :-)

Sherry, all you ahve to do is unplug your Printer cable and use that serial port to download the files, then plug the printer cable back in.

Yes, it takes a minute or two, but downloading takes even longer. The more you connect to a Mac the slower all of the operations will be. You must want everything and want it to work with no effert on your part? It doesn't work that way.
