But of course, what the hell does that have to do with y2k ???

Get a freaking grip you losers, you are starting to upset the other passengers. If you don't settle down I'll have my flight attendants come back there and force feed you three valium and a shot of bourbon.

Gordon, is the 767 completely fly-by-wire?

OTOH, TWA800, Flt 111, now Flt 990...all having trouble an hour or so out of NY, all flying the same route. What's going on?

...And it was an Egyptair flight, too. I wonder who was on the plane THIS time.

Maybe it was some homeboys doing a little downsizing. (Sorry about the mess, Effendi!) :)

Before you let your minds wander into the twilight zone, consider the thousands and thousands of flights that take off into this same pattern over and beyond Long Island. Aviation accidents do happen and many occur during take off. This being one of the busiest flight corridors in the world, it is not too unusual for these situations to arise. Besides, everyone knows that the alien aviation disrupters are all based on the West Coast.

Hey wait a minute Hroth. Is that a FREE triple dose of valium and a shot of bourbon. Why do you make that sound like a bad thing. I got the day off, feel free to strap me down and administer the meds as you see fit.

My Halloween costume is a rat. Sort of the way you humans dress up as bums. Cheap but gets you into parties.

C'mon pal, you can't possibly expect me to buy that crap. We live in a world with bad guys. They're knocking on the door and you're telling everyone to ignore the little shadows in the back yard that look like men with guns? Please hang a sign in your front yard which says, hey mr. terrorist, please don't hurt me, I have my eyes closed and i'm unarmed.

Best of luck to you and your buddy Osama.

Hamster,

Please report to the cockpit for debriefing (which means I'll crack open a bottle of Wild Turkey and pass out the little blue pills).

Now let's try and LAND THIS PUPPY!!!

yeeeeehaaaaaaawwwwhaaaa!!!!!

The best to you as well Gordon. Hope you have a full recovery.

Hey Hamster, ya wanna mud wrestle? I'll join you in those tranquilizers and that booze. Your place or mine?

Rachel- That is a very good question no one else seems to be asking. This is not a big area we're talking about. My guess is that if you could superimpose radar images of the crash sites, it might reveal an interesting pattern. Hopefully someone who doesn't work for fed/gov.com will have the sense to do this.

Where is gconnolly? I thought he was a pilot...maybe not. Or maybe he's no longer here.

Gia, I'm going to question a bit farther. Will probably regret it when the flames fly, but "nothing ventured, nothing learned."

First, I'm aware of the missile theory surrounding TWA800 and the controversy involved. That aside, Flt 111 had 13 minutes of loss of radio communication while it was still within the domain of Boston ATC. The small size of its debris field says it was not hit by a missile.

Now the big leap. I've read that new weapons utilizing EMI possibly were used to knock-out power in the bombing of Yugoslavia.

If that is the case, where would those new weapons have been tested?

Rachel- If they're going to flame you, they can flame me too. I imagine you know there is rumor of military doing "exercises" out on Noman's Land. Also Brookhaven Labs is up to God knows what. Used to fly that route regularly out of JFK to Europe. Have given that up for lent.

Gordon, is the 767 completely fly-by-wire? No. It is not.
