I like there analogy of the Star-ship Enterprise, and how manager Dec will feel like Captain Kirk for the roll-over. I can see her know screaming into her non-functional comunicator at Scotty the IT manager down in the system of systems engine room, and Scotty answering, but Captain our Lithieum Crystals that were certified compliant arent working, and her reply, well how long do you see us down for Scotty, well best that I can tell Captain some were between 3 days to 3 months. We dont have that much time Scotty, our business the Star-ship Enterprise life support systems will not last that long, spit on it Scotty...---...

After this article there is a link to an article about CIA statements on the international situation, which in turn contains a link to International Monitoring's website. That website, in the section on maps, shows the US and most of Western Europe to be shaded roughly the same color (very dark) as the former Soviet Union, China, India, and Brazil. Since they mention prevalence of technology as one factor in their assessment of each country, I suppose this is both believable and scary.

One statement that sounded not so bad was their opinion that the worldwide damages, apart from litigation, would amount to something over one trillion dollars, certainly a lot, but way less than cataclysmic. But I don't know if those damages were obtained using a model that isolates the individual country, as though nothing were going wrong anywhere else in the world, or whether they are trying to factor in the dominoes.
