A good buy on a CB/police monitor

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

I wanted a way to monitor local CB, ham, and police calls after Y2K, but was under the impression that no device existed that could get them all. I also thought I would have to rig up a complicated power source if I bought a CB. Yesterday my husband and I went to Radio Shack and discovered that they have a scanner on sale that picks up police, marine, aircraft, CB, and ham transmissions, and weather reports. It works off of batteries (regular or rechargeable) or (with an adapter) house electricity. This is exactly what I wanted, and was on sale for $199 (regularly $299). Its name is Pro-94. Now I will be able to keep up with what is going on around us.

Pearlie,

I am also interested in monitoring police, fire, rescue, weather, and ham transmissions at the same time as be able to communicate on CB. In other words, I want to talk too. Is this the right unit for me?

Sincerely, Stan Faryna

Sorry, no. You can listen only.
