Solar Panels

I had just reread a post on what DD1light had said about the oil and gas problems,in that post she had said "Nov 17th Leonid meteor storm hits, and we ain't talking shower, folks."

It ocurred to me if people have solar panels,it might not be such a bad idea to cover them, just in case of damage. They are a major investment and would be worth the time and trouble to protect. This is just a suggestion. You might want to get more information on this.

Hey, no sweat, I haven't got any solar panels.

I read DD1light's remarks. Her reference to solar panels and meteors was in the context of the threat to satellites posed by the Leonid meteor shower.

Last year, controllers adjusted satellite positions to present smallest possible profile in the direction of the shower.

Most of those meteors would be destroyed by atmospheric friction before they reach ground level. But in the vacuum of space, a meteor the size of a grain of sand packs the kinetic energy of a rifle bullet.
