80-200mm/F4.5 Hexanon Zoom

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Konica 35mm SLRs : One Thread

I saw one of these for sale on ebay. I was unaware that Konica ever made a f4.5 80-200mm zoom (it's not listed on this site).

Does anybody know anything about this?

Lance

80~200mm Zoom-Hexanon AR

Lance,

I have one of the lenses in question. I got this one from Greg Weber in 1995. It is of the "one touch" zoom/focus type, takes 55mm filters, and stops down to f22. It certainly isn't listed in any of my Konica brochures, including the FT-1 instructions. My understanding is that it is late production, during the "compacting" era. This would make it contemporary with the 35~70mm f3.5-4.5, though much less "plasticky" in feel.

80-200 f4.5 Zoom Hexanon

James,

Thanks for the info, but you left off one very important piece of data: How do you like the lens?

My Verdict

Donning my flame-proof clothing, I'll say: While I haven't tested it on lens charts, etc. It gives me good results. Not as sharp and cotrasty as the 135mm f3.2, but then there's not many optics that can stand up to that. I like the compace size, about 1" longer than the 135, and overall precision
