Atlanta - R A Cook will be on WGUN (AM 1010) Saturday at 1:00

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

For info to the Atlanta neighborhood -

I've been asked to be on air tommorrow (Saturday 11/13/1999) at 1:00 on the local Y2K radio show on WGUN - gotta love those call letters! - Yay! (Sound of one hand patting oneself on the back....)

Hope to listen to your questions, get your feedback, and - in general - see if we can bring out what is/isn't known about the Atlanta region's (lack of ?) preparedness for this upcoming event......

--what are telephone call in numbers?, and congrats on getting on. so far I've had two cancelled interviews on radio, and several cancelled newspaper deals. I'm too doomer and radical, it seems..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA scare the reporters, they need more mainstream middle of the road it seems....and middle of the road is actually doomer in "their" minds, I bet... good luck, robert, hope you do well! zog the ex-lantan and current mountain boy

What's the number on the radio dial? And I assume that's 1:00 p.m.?

Also, is this a weekly show on Y2K?

You go, Robert! I'll have my grand daughter tomorrow but I'll try to tune in. Anything you want me to call in and ask or talk about? Email if you want. Have they given you any parameters? Taboos?

Just looked it up, WGUN 1010 on the AM dial.

Robert, be sure to let us know if it becomes available on Real Audio. It would be Too Kewl to be able to hear the voice of the forum's favorite PE.

All right, Robert! We'll be listening in at my household, while working on our "prep chores." Good luck!

-- Jill D. (jdance@mindspring.com), November 12, 1999.

Good luck Robert!! Wish I could hear the program. I have in-laws in your area and will try to alert them!!

-- jeanne (jeane@hurry.now), November 12, 1999.

Good luck Robert!! Hope I can listen to the interview on realaudio, If possible???

-- Bill (sticky@2sides.tape), November 12, 1999.

FRL cheers for you Robert!

I too hope we can listen to the show on RealAudio, I'm too far from Atlanta.

I read Linkmaster's link, Atlanta Journal. Ouch! It was compared to Washington DC. And no mention of contengency plans.

"I suspected all along that we were in this kind of shape, but have not been able to confirm it," Woolard said of McCullough's report. "It's quite obvious that from the top down, nobody has a clue what they're doing."

McCall won't promise the city's computers will be glitch-free, but he steadfastly maintains the Y2K program is on track. "

Maybe you could remind the listeners how "on track" and on budget the Atlanta Olympics projects were. (I've never heard of Olympic projects anywhere being on track and on budget, and they certainly weren't for lack of motivation and money.)

Robert,

Your signal may not reach as far as Silicon Valley, but my best wishes for a "great" air time tomorrow... are bouncing your way!

Go team!

Wear your thick skin, Robert...talk show hosts most used mode of communication is ridicule...

You'll be great!

To the top.

....break a leg Robert :-)

-- Deborah (infowars@yahoo.com), November 13, 1999.

I'm overwhelmed - wow!

Thanks for the wishes and recommendations......

Call-in number is 770-491-7748. That's a 770 prefix, but will available nationally. If there is a 800 number, I'll make sure it's announced.

Host is Dave Stroub.

You're probably at the studio by now. Won't get to listen (damn Yankee!) but we'll be thinking of you!

Scare 'em, if you have to!

-- Arewyn (isitthatlate@lready.com), November 13, 1999.

Tell us how the show went Robert!

I couldn't pick it up here, too much static. :-(
