Usually when something sounds too good to be true, it is. What is your take on colloidal silver? What do you KNOW?

I bought a colloidal silver factory from www.silversolutions about 4 years ago. I saved thousands of dollars in doctor and hospital bills. My wife is very suseptible to pneumonia and gets it every winter. So far we have been able to nip it in the bud everytime her chest gets tight and wheezy. The unit costs only $79 and it was the best money I ever spent! Get your own unit while you can before Y2K!!!!! Without antibiotics your dead during Y2K. Colloidal silver will keep you alive!!!DO IT NOW!!!!

Actually... I hate to tell you, but I've got a non-Y2K article here (it's actually in an historical fanzine) that quotes research that's determined that the historical reason behing the idea of throwing money into a "wishing well" is that silver is an incredible anti-bacterial agent. It doesn't advise drinking the stuff, but it's just another example of how much we've forgotten over the last few hundred years.

Silver is used in heavy-duty burn ointments, and I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of Silvadine, having once horribly burned three fingers while de-icing my father's iced-up frost-free fridge, when I grabbed the red-hot defroster and pulled on it. Worst burns I've ever had, and they wouldn't heal. Hurt like hell, and the "skin" wouldn't grow back, it just got soft and sort of "molten" like waterlogged gelatin. The pain was incredible. After a few days of that, I went to the doctor, he prescribed the ointment, and there was immediate improvement, and in a couple of days, the skin was granulating.

Something similar is used on "flesh-eating bacteria" infections, it's about the only thing that will help for a lot of victims.

I've also had my dentist use silver nitrate on things like pieces of bone poking through my gum.

Silver is a well-known antimicrobial.

Search on silver in this forum's Food archive and in the Alternative Medicine archive of the preps forum. There are dozens of posts about this heavy metal. If I were at all paranoid, I'd say these inummerable posts are begun by those with an interest in the coilloidal silver business.

If you go to the TimeBomb2000 Preparation Forum, you will find in the archives scads and scads of information on several threads about this subject.

Dr. Andrew Weil has a website with lots of info & columns on 'alternative' healthcare. He's not a fan of colloidal silver, but has interesting history on its use, and solid recommendations for care.
