Minox FC-X flash for the TLX with hotshoe adapter

Dear Martin:

The FC-X flash can be purchased separately, I think now they might have replaced that with the one made for the GT-S. This flash has three aperture settings, so it could be a good flash to use that can offer "fill flash " when you can stop down the Automatic setting by one to two stops:

The three apartures are labelled as color zones. Red Blue and yellow.

Auto setting Distance and color zone at F4 setting ISO 25 0.9 to 2.3m "blue" 50 0.9 to 3.2m "yellow" 100 0.9 to 4.5m "red" 200 Film speed too fast to use f4 setting

F stops for different film speeds, adjustable : 2.8,, 4., 5.6., 8., 11., 16

For ISO 50 film selecting "Red" will produce f2.8 setting, for ISO 25, "yellow" will get a f2.8 setting. This is perfect for "fill Flash". The TLX can syn at any speed according to the manual, eg: Flash set at f2.8, lens 3.5, shutter speed maybe 1/1000,or 1/2000 according to the 10x rule (f3.5, Shutter=1/(10x ISO)), then you can "fill in" the shadows, or shooting in back light situation.

On the other hand, you can overexpose the ISO100 film by one to two stops, and ISO 50 by one stop. ISO 200 one to three stops, ISO 400 2 to 4 stops by using the flash setting.

For ISO100 we have to diffuse the light to get a lower output for the "filled flash" effect in daylight. Try using tissues.

Various effect can be obtained for the TLX by using the FC-X flash (for the Minox GT-S camera).

I think this flash is very suitable for the TLX with the hotshoe adapter. Light can be diffused as well using a medium of your choice.

The weight of this flash with batteries is about the same as the 8X11 Flash. Just slightly thicker. Does not work with the ECX unless a hotshoe adapter is available for the ECX later on. The ECX will need this flash badly. Using the 8x11 (GN 12) flash the ECX can only shoots at about 2m, over two meters the film will be underexposed, less than 2m the film will be overexposed.

This is a better table for the FC-X flash setting" Auto setting Distance and color zone at F4 setting ISO -------------------------------------- 25 0.9 to 2.3m "blue" 50 0.9 to 3.2m "yellow" 100 0.9 to 4.5m "red" 200 Film speed too fast to use f4 setting

FC-X Flash (form Minox GT-X) Distance and color zone at F4 setting: ISO25 0.9m to 2.3m "blue"., ISO50 0.9m to 3.2m "yellow"., ISO100 0.9m to 4.5m "red"., ISO200 Film speed too fast to use f4 setting. So minimum distance dropped down to 0.9m which is perfect. The GN of the flash is 18(in meters)

Actually Syn speed is 1/30 to 1/500 sec on the TLX.
