The following blurb can be found in Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida's participating provider directory.

"BCBSF and subsidiary companies make no representation about the year 2000 readiness of any of the physicians, hospitals, or other medical providers listed in this directory. You and not BCBSF or its subsidiary companies, are responsible for determining what information about the Year 2000 readiness of your medical providers is needed for you to make your own health care decisions in light of that information."

Good advice for all your health care decisions.

I consider Blue Shield to be the finest in the nation. For it to say what it did has pretty serious implications. That was a strong buyer beware warning of compliancy/complacency "out there." [sigh] I wish I could afford Blue Shield as a private lone citizen. Ooh how I miss it.

I think that is good sound advice regarding all things that may have a problem with y2k. I spent many years running life support systems and heart lung bypass machines. "Plumbing" failures are a LARGE part of the death rate. Then put on top of it nurses and Drs that don't know the manual work arounds well enuff to put into immediate action. Yep...damned good advice. Thank you Blue Cross.
