Does Jesus have any siblings? Not brothers and sisters in faith but blood related.

Yes one example is John the Baptizer and some of His disciples James and Joseph were sons of Mary's sister. This is from Matthew and early Christian writings that answered the early heresy that put forth that Mary had other children with Joseph.

Then who are Jesus' "sisters" that seem to be always 'hanging around' the four brothers?

I've read in the Bible where it refers to "James, the brother of Jesus". Most recently~Letter of Paul to the Galatians-..."I did not meet any other apostles except James, the brother of the Lord."

Now, I've often heard it explained that perhaps it just meant we are all brothers and sisters of Christ but obviously, not in the literal sense.

But I read that a couple of days ago and then I read this story and it really has me puzzled. Then again, one of the other theories I've heard bantered about is that Joseph had children from a previous marriage so, who knows?

Interesting story

Lisa, "Does Jesus have any siblings?"

Mr 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

Mr 6:4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

I believe that "his own kin" and "his own house" bring us to understand that this was His blood relation and not spiritual as all brothers and sisters in Christ.

As for M, "Then who are Jesus' "sisters" that seem to be always 'hanging around' the four brothers?"

It is not uncommon that the Bible seldom gives us the names of women. But it also does not mention the names of men that play no role necessary for scripture either.

Example: Ge 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

What are their names?

"Joseph had children from a previous marriage"

I sure would like to see some proof concerning that about Joseph.

> "that this was His blood relation"

You're right, but from my understanding of that time period, cousins where referred to as "brothers", and "sisters". There is no proof that Mary had any other children, other than Jesus.

I didn't know that Mary had a sister. I thought she was an only child. Thank you, Brother, for that information. I will check that out further.
