The Mills building Chicago Architecture pre-quake

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

I am researching Burnham and Root 's architecture from the turn of the century, does anyone have any info on the Mills building or the Chronicle building. THey both were made about 1890 and survived the quake. Any info is welcome, especially what they were made of and floor plans. Info on renevations or presevationist movements also help. Thanks

"Splendid Suvivors" published in 1979 by the Foundation for San Francisco's Architectural Heritage is a good place to start. Also look at "San Francisco Architecture" by S B Woodbridge and J M Woodbridge is also very good. It was published in 1992 by Chronicle Books.
