OT: Thank you Dianne.

Dianne; I will no doubt get trounced by some few who feel I should not agree with your position (and those of the other sysops) but thank you very much for filtering out the noise and garbage. The job is difficult and the children will whine and cry about their rights all the while trampeling everyone else's.

It has ever been thus, but for the guardians. I would say you folks are doing the rest of us a great service.

Keep them off. There is a file in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf which can be used to block sites and subnets. This may or may not be usefull information to you folks.

Response to Thank you Dianne.

Agreed. The sysops are doing a fabulous job and the pollys are finally getting what they deserve.

Please edit the above junk.

I agree. Show them the door marked EXIT. They had their chance to be civil. They had their chance to be logical. But they just want to play these stupid, childish games. I for one don't have the time for it.

Keep on rockin' Sysops.

Tick... Tock... <:00=

CD, if you don't like it, you can go to debunkys with the rest of the pollys. Everyone else here LOVES what the sysops are doing.

Again, anyone that is new to the forum, take note. The message is getting clearer.

Response to Thank you Dianne.

Just keep it up Hoff and you'll be the next to go.

Thanks Diane, keep deleting these antagonists, we are sick of the constant disruptions. They could go other places to irritate people, but no one else would have been as patient as we have. No more patience!!

Response to Thank you Dianne.

Come on Hoff. You are WAY too intelligent. You know as well as anybody these trolls offer nothing. Why don't you hoist your credibility a little by acknowledging this. Decker appears to be willing to find some common ground of late. Flint always has.

Hoff,

Were you here this weekend when the same crap was posted 75 times, and followed by more crap posted 75 times, followed by more and more? Sorry, these clowns should be kicked out! <:(=

-- Sysman (y2kboard@yahoo.com), November 22, 1999.

Response to Thank you Dianne.

Yup. The message keeps getting clearer.

Tell me, "Hawk", is that an "official" warning?

-- Hoffmeister (hoff_meister@my-deja.com), November 22, 1999.

Yeah, it is. You are verging on being disruptive right now, and if the majority decides we don't like you, you're outta here.

I also agree with the sysops. This board has been a valuable resource and, as much as I believe in free speech, I don't think that the sort of wanton excess displayed by the trolls constitutes a responsible use of that freedom. It is obviously only a way to distract us from the business at hand: sharing information. It makes me wonder where some of these people draw their paychecks from. (I used to think that such thoughts were sheer paranoia. I no longer do.)

-- Ludi (ludi@rolling.com), November 22, 1999.

Dave

Many on both sides don't offer anything. The point is that only one side gets editted/deleted.

I've said before, "they" can obviously do what "they" like with this forum. Just think the ground rules should be made clear. "They" are doing a very good job of that right now.

Sysman

Do agree on the multiple posting stuff. Don't think all of the occupants of "The List" were involved in that, though.

Hawk

Again, I'll keep it in mind. To be honest, I'd be completely suprised if a majority ever "liked" me. Interesting criteria you have for allowing posts, though.

Hoff

Got to wonder about you. Of all the optimists you are the one that should have started a "smart" forum so that your message gets out. The optimists really dropped the ball with this one. Not to many of the new folk would be interested in the cyber infighting which is what the problem is, not Y2K.

The problem is two competing forums and the personalities that go with it. Now this is not Y2K it is personal retribution.

I have offered repeated times to set up a Optimistic forum and would have contributed to it but there was no takers. Now we have this whining and crying cause the idiots can't "piss on the floor". The fact that you and other optimistic types (Factfinder comes to mind) that have a brain didn't set up a propper forum really makes me wonder.

For your information, when I set up the Prep archive I taught myself HTML and the TCL that greenspun uses over a weekend. If you guys are so smart why can't you do the same thing?

If you failed in this regard why should we assume you got Y2K right?

This is a communications issue not a censorship problem.

Optimist have a really hard time communicating. (This is of course not to say that all pessimists communicate properly) But from what I see the pessimists are all alot more articulate than optimists. Alot of posts on this forum demonstrate this fact.
