What's new?

Only have to keep the mushrooms in the dark for 5 more weeks.

Stamping everything secret will only mean total darkness. After all, TRUTH is LIGHT.

URL doesn't work. Why does that not surprise me?

Makes almost everything FOUO which will keep it out of the public domain. No more Jim Lord disclosures of Navy location assessments. No more disclosures of military system problems. May 2000, they are going to tell the truth. May be a good thing, but kills transparency. Would not do this without real problems.

From the above:

"-Information that reveals DoD overseas Y2K stsus and host nation support capabilities to DoD shall not be posted to unclassified websites."

"-This memorandum shall serve as classification authority to classify information which, when aggregated, renders an assessment of a specific military installation relative to Y2K vulnerabilities. Such assessments shall be classified SECRET pursuant to Executive Order 12958 paragraph 1.5 g. All information classified by this directive shall be decalssified on 31 May 2000 unless deemed otherwise by competent authority."

Guess the Navy reports will be going away.

It's a hoax. "Verga" means penis in Spanish!

Try the URL again.

If that doesn't work, try this URL, scroll down and click on the document, "Security Policy for DoD Y2K Information (8 October 1999)."

http://cr-iiacfs1.army.mil/army-y2k/Hottopics.htm

The memo is from a Peter F. Verga who lives in Alexandria, Virginia. He is the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense (Policy Support).

Unless someone has gone through all the trouble of creating a webpage with Peter Verga's photo (along with personal address information on a number of internet personal directory search engines), the memo appears to be legit.

"Peter Verga" means penis in English and Spanish, why not just call him Dick for short?
