I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank you!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

-For over a year, I have lurked here. Reading, studying, learning innumerable new concepts and ideas. Learning new ways of looking at things that I have taken for granted for so long, too long. Learning new ways of looking at myself.

We stand at the beginning of the last month of 1999. Much uncertainty awaits the unravelling of the next 32 days ... ( I am including, of course, 1 Jan 2000 ). Yet for all that uncertainty, one fact stands out clearly. Over the last year, without the awareness of any of you, I have come to regard ALL of you ... as part of my extended family.

My reason is simple. I was raised with one guiding philosophy. Family may fight and argue, but family ALWAYS helps each other to take care of themselves. And when the time comes that one becomes unable to care for themself, then it is time for the family to unite to carry that one forward.

So, at the end of this last day of November 1999, I say to all my family assembled here - THANK YOU!

May our common paths help us to help each other to help ourselves and if needed, each other.

Blessings upon all of you, from the high Rocky Mountains, deep in Indian Country, on the edge of no-where. :-)

Dear Hiding,

Let those who have ears hear and those who have eyes see......................... I believe your eyes and ears are working.

God Bless,

hiding, that was really nice to read. And these last 32 days have started out with a bang and a PREVIEW, no? It helps us cope immeasureably knowing that there are so many sharing brave Yourdynamites out there facing Who Knows What with us. It's been an incredible year and if we have to expire soon, at least our higher-ages desire for community has been amply fulfilled in the Forum!

Hiding:

You are most welcome, and I agree: I've come to see folks here as my friends and extended family too!

Please accept my thoughts and prayers for you and yours. We'll be hidden near 54 North--between the Cascades and the Rockies.

It does seem like family after all this time. I always enjoy your posts so keep them coming and be safe in the times ahead.

Appreciate those kind words. With one remaining month before the big rollover into 2000, they come at the right time. December 1, 1999. I can scarcely believe how close we now are.

Yours in the end times,

As we stand together looking into the abyss, I agree that for all that is before us we at least stand together.

Happy Holidays to brothers and sisters everywhere. And hiding, well said.

So, now I'm in the will?

I, too, have been mostly lurking- just got my computer a year ago, after retiring, so I could learn as much as possible about Y2K. I give a humble thanks to all of you who have been so helpful and inspiring.....and even to those who give me a hearty chuckle at a sily reponse, like those above me! Above all, we need a good laugh, everyday.

Actually, Y2K has not made retirement a happy thought, with so many unknowns thrown at us, but we're all in the same boat, having to cough up money we didn't expect to have to, to prepare. Still, it has given me a greater sense of security, as I know it has you, too. And I thank you all for your company and encouragement ......you are my second family. Where's Andy????? Miss him!

"May you live in interesting times..."

Gee thanks...

This limbo, I have been calling life, for the past two years is getting really old. There are so many things I want to do, buy, visit, etc... but I do not dare until this rollover thing pans out... one way or another.

My wife thinks I have blown a gasket. My family has basically disowned me as a looney. My kids think Dad has finally jumped into the deep end... ARRRGH!!! It is so much fun being labeled as a "rubber room candidate" by everyone around you.

I think my preps are as done as they are going to get. We are still collecting empty 2-liter soda bottles for more water storage, and we have that last shopping trip to Costco before the Mooers and Bleaters get a clue, if they get a clue... I still need to stock up more .45 and .22 ammo, as my practicing is depleting the supply faster than I can purchase or reload. I figure that will be something to do next week.

I have cashed in half of my vacation so I might buy a few things for the kids for Christmas... Jeez, time flys when you are having fun... : /

30 days... like it or not, here it comes...

I hope you pollys are right... Man look at the comtrails (chemtrails) this morning... you people might be on to something....

loungin' on the couch... (BAD DOG!!!)

I too have been lurking here for months, enjoying the banter and the disagreements as well as the fun (ROTFLMCOMN). I have only contributed ocassionally, though I have been following the debate here and in person at conferences. After digesting all the information I conclude that there is no way to reach a conclusion except that to not prepare for the worst while living in the snow belt is ludicrous!! To my "doomer" family members, may I say I hope you are wrong and we all have a healthy and happy 2000. To the polys out there, I hope you are right, but I will be surprised if it goes without any serious consequences. In the face of the unknown, CYA! So here I sit on the fence and I appreciate all of your views for they prove that there is no certainty in what we face except that we face it together. Peace, Love to all ... and thanks

Hiding in plain sight@edge of no-where-----

I too feel I have an extended family in this forum. It is a *most excellent* feeling to have people to communicate with on this difficult subject matter. The support, understanding and sharing of experience and knowledge has been a critical factor in coping, preparing for, and dealing with the possiblities of Y2K. My very best wishes to "everyone" here.

;-)

I agree with you 100% there hiding, This site, and the people who 'live here' are the main reason I have been so blessed with the grounding to prepare for not just Y2K, but the future in general. Best of luck...to all of us...
