I own and operate a company that sells preparedness products in the state of Maine and online (watertanks.com). We sell a lot of water barrels; so many that we have to have UPS send a trailer each day to bring them into the terminal. The driver that usually comes told us today that he has been noticing a number of 'government' tractor-trailers coming into and out of Maine for the past week or so. Yesterday he was in Ellsworth, Maine (I will get the exact location from him tomorrow - I didn't think of asking)and saw a tractor-trailer with the rear doors open (uloading?...he wasn't certain) In the truck were regular cardboard boxes all labled "US Government Food".

It could have been related to a regular gov't food program, however he claims he never saw these trucks before, and in the numbers he has been seeing them lately.

He isn't a doomer - even close, however he told us that he is really angry because he thinks it's related to Y2k and is pissed offf that we have all been lied to about the potential for shortages and other problems.

I believe him. He has no reason to lie. All along this guy has been getting a kick out of all the 'chicken littles' who are buying our products in the volume that they are.

My take is that I am happy that there are actions being taken to help the pollies who haven't and won't prepare. It will keep people from over-reacting and going after people who have taken the time and effort to prepare themselves and their families.

Has anyone else seen unusual traffic of 'gov't' trailers in their state?

Interesting indeed. As a side note, I peeked into the back of one of those WalMart mystery trailers (tan colored) that everyone's been talking about. It was stuffed with boxes of artifical Xmas trees, ornaments, Xmas tree lights, just Xmas stuff that's all. I was hoping to see boxes marked FEMA and Red Cross.

Mark, I just want to say "Thank You" for bringing this info to our attention. I don't have any info but I appreciate when people relay things they are seeing and hearing as it gives an overall picture of what may be happening. I suspect that the govt. is securing a certain amount of food but I would say that hospitals and govt. agencies would get it first. Although I would hope that it goes to shelters and emergency services. Thanks again.

The state of Maine, as I recall, was one of the first states to publically Get It, when the Governer wanted to spend a pile of cash to have food and other supplies on hand for the rollover...Was laughed at as I recall...Maybe he said screw it and got a bunch of food for the civilian side anyway. More power to him if thats the case

yes, i have seen larger and stranger numbers of government and military vehicles in tennessee. this is interesting i must say. my husband works for the city and he saw two huge trainloads of nothing BUT military stuff. humv's etc. generators, construction equipment. wake up america. you have been lied to and are about to find out.

Yes, I have seen unusual "traffic" lately. Driving from Washington State to Oregon on November 24th the following was observed: 10 army tanks headed West on Interstate 90 right in the downtown Spokane area. Unusual to me, anyway. I have never in all my years seen army tanks driving down an interstate. On a railroad overpas outside of Portland, glancing down at the tracks, I observed a train loaded with flatbed cars carrying approximately 15-20 tanks. Again, I've never seen this anywhere before. I've hesitated to post these sightings, thinking it could be coincidental, but these two observations on the same day gave me the "heebie jeebies". Another possibility I've considered is that the military was required to be prepared for every contingency, including terrorist attacks, at the WTO meeting this week. Perhaps they were pre-positioning?

If all this is factual, then perhaps the government is taking steps to...defend the country.

Some of the finest men I have meet are/were military and they would give their lives for you and me. I doubt very much the government wants to do us harm. Maybe some traitors or as was said..."wolves in sheeps clothing" would/are betray[ing] us but they will be discovered and dealt with.

Keep your eyes and ears open! And your mind!

For years I have been telling my brothers that the time leading up to the year 2000 would be a very strange and eventful time...I don't think I will/have been dissapointed in my prognostication. We are living in weird times.
