Y2K Fears Affect Fiesta Bowl Bands

PHOENIX (AP) -- Three high school bands won't fly to Arizona to perform in the prominent Fiesta Bowl parade on Dec. 31 because of fears their travel plans could be disrupted by the Y2K computer bug.

Bands from California, New York and Missouri told parade organizers that some parents were worried about having their children flying during ``the Y2K period,'' Fiesta Bowl spokeswoman Jennifer Ziegler said Thursday.

The Fiesta Bowl parade typically draws top-rated bands from around the country. The bands that pulled out said they would accept an invitation next year.

They have been replaced by local bands.
