no need for storing water plans and a light idea...

Well, I'm storing some H2O but another way to 'get' water is with a solar still....for those of you who don't know how it works...

Dig a hole....couple of feet deep on down, as big around as you can cover with available plastic...sheeting, garbage bag...whatever.. Put a jar, can, whatever in the bottom center of the hole. Lay sheeting over hole and weoght down the sides so it stay open and flat, like a lid. Put a rock pr something in the center so you have a deppression with the inside pointing over your container....wait.

Depending on your climate and conditions you may get anywhere from a pint on up in a day..sunlight causes evaporation...plastic condenses the H2o...

Also...saw it mentioned somewhere...but solar powered lights might be beneficial. I picked up a couple of sidewalk lights...got couple today...more tomorrow...under $20 ea.

These solar stills work fine...we built one and demo'ed it during a 4H Solar Project a few years back. Work really well when the ground is wet and the sun is up.

Not to gross anyone out but...if you're in dire straits dumping brackish or polluted water into the hole will yield more distilled water in the jug/can/jar. So will urinating in the hole. Have tested that too.
