Given the fact that the rollover will be monitored for hours before its arrival in the USA. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the DGI's if failure begin to be publicized.

Can anyone deny that at that point the PANIC will begin. The government is well aware that this could create the panic as the date change sweeps toward us. What will all those who did nothing, do when problem become apparent in Europe, Asia Japan?

I predict that that is when a concerted effort by BIG BROTHER will have to begin to control the millions in panic. Imagine if it is very cold and power grids fail in Europe and CNN, NBC, CBS and others broadcast the problem to millions of sheeple who bought into the "no problem" denial propaganda.

That would help explain all the military, police, and government preparation for this "non-event". A panic like this would be truly uncontrollable and ideal for KLINTON and his ilk.

Why do you belief that any failures will get attention from the media? Only the hams, shortwave monitors, and inet surfers (Mr. Whiffle's site will be run on a server powered by generators and reachable via packet radio) will have any clue as to what's *really* going on, and if the old HAARP waves kick in, (official view: that's SUNSPOTS, BOY!) then we'll be hard pressed for accurate info.

Better practice your scurrying ... I have a slightly used crystal that I'll trade you for your ring, unless Bilbo has made off with it...

I will on the air live on the radio station I am a broadcaster with - live from our emergency center where we will be 'following the sun' and believe you me, they will not censor me or our radio station - we are community, listener supported radio - non commercial and non-beholden to ANYONE.

KVMR-FM, Nevada City Live streaming audio over the internet too, as long as internet up! Listen in New Years Eve and beyond if you can't get anything anywhere else.

I see this going one of two possible ways. Number 1: the government will censor the data coming in from other countries. Number 2: all the major news media (CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, BBC, etc) will have correspondents stationed in other countries........Fiji, Australia, Japan, China, Russia, the Middle East, Italy, France, Great Britain, Canada, South American countries, etc. as well as in major U.S. cities. There will be a constant stream of reports coming in. I suspect the case will be the number 2 scenario, and knowing how the media reports news, it's likely that panic will be media driven.

I know where I am (Italy) and where Colin is (Scotland)....But most folks don't know who anybody is overseas...yes? What if your "reports" are FUDGED! With multiple reports coming in and MOST saying everything is okay...who would YOU believe?

I guess we'll have to fall back on our TBY2k techniques of listening with the third ear and taking everything we hear with many grains of salt. The experiences of trying to make sense out of the information or lack of it in the past year comes to mind.

Don't forget to tune in with your scanners. Your local and state police may be getting more accurate information than you will.

(While they will be told to "keep cool" over the radio there are always a few out there who can't help blabbing exactly what they think. Be sure to monitor the least competent and least professional town cops. Also monitor the local utilities. They also have some blabbermouths who won't follow radio protocols. ;-) )
