History of Mtv: In the beginning the 80's were dull and naught and absolutely nothing of interest had been accomplished yet to make a place for this decade in the annals of time. And thus from the depths arose a bunch of big-haired, shirtless, tights-wearing rock-n-rollers with, like, DUDE!, a totally revolutionary idea of, like a TELIVISION NETWORK... of, like MUSIC! Who-o-o-o-a! And thus it came to pass that the pact with Satan went through, and the big-haired boys were allowed to gyrate on-screen causing dismay across America, and also causing several old Fundamental Christians to faint dead away. And lo and behold a good fifteen years passed and the rock-n-rollers suddenly awoke (in a pool of their own vomit) to find that their ten minutes of fame were long over, and the only testament to their life's work was a late-night CD commercial which flooded the airways like a painful reminder of America's most embarrassing period in history.

Well, second of course to the period in which a bunch of filthy-rich black guys complain about life in the ghetto over samples of other people's music. Y'know, the same one in which groups of muscle-bound choir boys whose every move is carefully orchestrated by a panel of marketing experts are being chased around the streets by hundreds of screaming teenaged girls.

What period was that again? Ahh, yes. The present.
