{Humor} Phil Gramm quote in the Bankok Post

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

But America has Senator Phil Gramm of Texas, who
once aspired to be president of the United States.
He told the US senate that there were no date
problems in 1000, and before that, "We had dates
going down, and then they started going up," as in
BC and AD, and so 2000 shouldn't be a problem.

Kewl Gramm. Isn't there some kind of award for
statements like this?

He started out in politics with such promise. What went wrong?

What went wrong was that he *ended up* in politics.

Hard to fault a politican for acting like a... politician.

Yes - he already got the duh- 2000 award.

In all fairness, Duh-2000 claim this was
a joke.

It seems to us that he was probably kidding,
but we would have loved to have seen the look
on Sen. Bennett's face regardless.
