Sex Apparently More Important than Nuclear War

A couple weeks ago, I de-lurked and shared my y2k story.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that most of the private responses were from lonely libertarian men not all that interested in discussing their probably inadequate preparations for possible nuclear war.

Here are some of the scary links I've been sending out lately. Sorry if the formatting or linking doesn't look or work right. Apparently, these links do work excellently for turning off potential suitors.

I did get a few responses from people willing to face the serious possibility that their current preps/situation may not be ideal. I put them in contact with Mark (markhaven@hushmail.com) and it looks like our group will soon have some new members. Mark maintains confidentiality with his clients, so I'm not sure if he is still able to help people or organizations at this point. I've seen several U-hauls in town lately, and I've noticed some of the trailers and cheaper rentals becoming unavailable. But amazingly, the local lodges do not seemed to be full to capacity, and some trailers, houses and cheap rentals ARE still available.

Maybe it is too late for all but the most desperate, unprepared or wealthy last minute RGIs (Really Get Its) to relocate permanently, but I'm pretty sure you could still hedge your bets and spend a very safe and interesting vacation up here. Let your neighbors or relatives or friends stay at your place and guard it in exchange for using your preps if they need to. Get out of town during the period of greatest danger of nuclear war. If no war, or y2k is just a depression, you should be able to return safely in a month or 6 weeks. If there is a nuclear war you will be in a safe, close-knit community where no one will go without food/water/shelter/heat.

Also, you might have a lot of fun and get to be in a movie. That's right, a movie. Some of Mark's earliest clients, who moved here over a year ago and are relatively open about their y2k concerns, have decided to take advantage of the surreal nature of these last few pre-y2k weeks and shoot a low budget movie that contains fictional and some semi biographical/autobiographical material. Maybe it will turn out to be another "Blair Witch Project" if y2k is a bump in the road. If y2k is bad, it will be an interesting documentary that may become valuable in future years. Anyway, I've let them shoot a couple scenes with me in it where we were just doing our usual doomer conversation thing. I don't know if I'll ever give them permission to use the footage with me in it, but who knows . . . maybe someday I'll be a star!

That's all for now, and perhaps till after rollover. Guys, please don't write. Write Mark and get your ass up here pre-rollover if you hope to meet me. If I'm going to get romantically entangled this close to y2k, it's going to be with someone who's lived in this area for at least 10 years. A cold blooded, political decision. There, see, I'm a bitch anyway, so cool it.

Sorry Suze,

I didn't respond because I'm married and have been for 39 years. The closest "movie plex" for us is 60 miles each way. I think the last time I went to a movie was around 1985 (no kidding) Guess we'll have to pass on movies.

Hope things work out.

PS.

We got KI long ago even though we are more than 300 miles from any nuke stuff.

Oh yeah, we all just can't wait to be an apocalyptic movie star and meet you in person! Sheeesh, it's obvious why your boyfriend dumped you... you're a brainless bimbo!

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), December 12, 1999.

How very narcissistic. You assumed "Mark" at first had personal interest in you. You imply the prior post linked here consisted of men having a personal interest in you, but there was only King/Prince of Spain's mudwrestling remark, which is extended to all who post with a female name. You say you are GI, yet imagine we will have the infrastructure to support an irrelevant documentary or your fantasy of stardom.

Have you always been this psychotic, or is it new for you?

Suze, how far along are you on your preps? Think you could stand a 7? Your mind needs to be on your prep life or you may have no life at all in a year. You don't have many days left although it beats me how many...

Yes. Sex is more important than nuclear war.

-- Gus (y2kk@usa.net), December 12, 1999.

Again, no one wants to address the issue; preparation for nuclear war and whether or not your current preps/situation is likely to be adequate.

Except Todd, to be fair. Glad to hear some people have decent locations and KI. Hope he hasn't told too many friends/relatives how ready he'll be.

Hokie -- I said the male pestering came in PRIVATE responses (to my real email address). I can read, and I obviously wasn't referring to the public replies to my post.

Hawk -- Thanks for your insightfull comments regarding potential nuclear war. I'm sure you're ready for anything except intelligent conversation. And the low budget movie is not my project, it's just something fun some of the people in my "group" are doing. Doesn't cost much or take up much time.

Psychotic -- I believe that I'm ready for a 10. Primarily through the good luck of being smart enough to respond when Mark indicated that a significantly better location choice was (is?) available, than the ones usually mentioned in y2k relocation discussions.

Which is what I really wanted to talk about.

Are you really in as good a location as you think you are?

Have you told too many people about your preps?

Have you enough allies?

Are you intellectually honest enough to still examine these questions at this late date?

one ally...one freind. No one else cares or worries. She won't live long if it goes really bad [by her own admission]- Me? who knows? Life is strange and I'll deal with it as it comes. No where to go...no where to turn. Cold, hard world, but I've known that since I was knee high to a short duck. Whatever your ride take it in both hands and hang on. I can here the music from Terminator playing. Only this isn't a movie. No actors, no names changed to protect the innocent. No happy ending...Just reality. No Fate. No Fate. No Fate. No Fate. No Fate. No Fate....

Okay, I'll bite.

Maybe a few too many do know about my current preps, and my area may not be perfect in terms of nuclear plants or war or chemical factories . . . whatever.

But I do have a comfortable routine established, and I'm tired of worrying. I've just gotten comfortable considering y2k a possible 6 -- now you want me to prep for a possible 10?

I guess I could find someone to watch my place and bug out just between Newton's birthday (Dec. 25) and say Jan 10, but to where?

YOU HAVEN'T TOLD US WHERE!

And we don't have time to dick around.

So tell us Suze, where is it we're supposed to bug out too.

OK Suze, I'll play ball and answer the question as posted.

Yes, I'll vote for sex over nuclear war.
