Y2K will keep Canada's diplomats working.

The federal government has ordered its top officials at Canada's 132 foreign missions to stay on the job over the holidays.

Christmas and New Year vacations have been cancelled for ambassadors and high commissioners because of possible problems related to the the Y2K bug.

The Foreign Affairs department has installed emergency satellite equipment at foreign missions, along with back-up generators and extra water supplies.

The cost for these extra measures is just over $5 million."

Guess they're not bringing anyone home.

The article didn't mention whether noncritical staff is going to be moved. Can you imagine getting stuck in Washington DC during the rollover? Wow :o)
