Hopefully this will help keep January a wee bit calmer ...

But Uncle Bill just announced that 99.5% of the systems are 100% compliant!!! They don't need to do this. Everything is fine. Go back to sleep.

Doesn't this tie in nicely with the previous threads on Martial Law beginning on the 28 December? Along with opening of the $50million Y2K "monitoring"center the .gov set up? Maybe we all will be on food stamps starting the 28th.

Nah - you guys are trying to make me paranoid again...aren't you?

Well today was brightened by a social security notice that my mom's SS for January will be in the bank on January 3, 2000. She uses the electronic transfer option. She is a happy camper!

She is 92 and I prepared for her because she doesn't even know a computer let alone the y2k problem. But I did talk to her about the depression that she does know and understand. Her memories are good and she is a good source of history. When she was a child her chore was to clean the oil lamps. Listening to her makes me feel better and it was her and her stories made me better prepared.

One of the stories she told me was of this section of affluent homes that were purchased for 20 cents on the dollar and turned into apartments when the people who owned them went bust. I lived in one of them in 1963 when they were worth a lot more. My rent was 55.00 a month.

The past has something to offer talk to your grandmothers and grandfathers.
