Dear A friend,

Honey, I know you want everyone to feel the inner peace you are experiencing now, but this is the second time in as many days I've checked out this link.

May you and your family, loved ones, and all who you care about, feel as serene as you do now, unfortunately, I'm not there yet. Maybe if it turns out to be a BITR I'll find the peace you so much want me to have. Until then, lighten up, OK?

-- Michael (michaelteever@buffalo.com), December 15, 1999.

Dear Michael,

Your response was not necessary. This person does not need to "lighten up." I've been to Medjugorje twice, have turned my life over to God, and I have to tell you anything could happen and nothing could steal my "light." In prayer one finds peace.

God bless you

I wonder how this place has fared with all the fighting in Yugoslavia

-- Lars (lars@indy.net), December 15, 1999.

LOL, Lars! THAT was wicked, but good.

Nonetheless, my sincerest wish for peace to all in whatever harm-free way they can find it.

What the hell is wrong, I can't get that link to work for me??? I have tried several times.

Wait ... never mind. Sorry, I thought it was www.mudjugorje.com....

Michael, I am not serene about this situation, although I am working on it. I posted this link in the hope that it might be a path TOWARD serenity for those who read this post. I think I have posted to this board much longer than you. Everyone who has EVER posted here is in my prayers.

Dearest Lars, as in (lars@indy.net)

Now you, my dear are a sincere piece of work.

My dear Lars, are you aware that with all of the destruction as a result of the fighting in Yugoslavia, Medjugorje was never touched? At some point in time the historians will record this.

Blessings to you my friend.

Peace.

Mudjugorrie is right, KOS. The entire country is a war zone now.

Hokum and drivel. Bishop of Mostar never ceases to condemn this charade perpetrated by the chain-smoking teens of Mudjugoree. Certainly hasn't brought blessing to the surrounding country has it? And such a slimy evangelist poster too ....

Well, my friend, aside from the fact you appear to have no ability to spell, you seem to understand very little about the Catholic church these days. The Bishop of Mostar reports directly to Pope John Paul the II. Pope John Paul II has repeatedly blessed everything with regard to Medjugorje.

What has happened in this little village has not been formally approved by the Catholic church in the same fashion as Lourdes and Fatima, because these things take time.

One thing can be proven in every instant of your life however, and it is this:

God works in mysterious ways.

Peace be with you, my friend.

I just posted a new thread on this subject, and it was deleted.

It matters not.

The message is clear:

Fear not.

Blessings.

I recall an article in an old Spy magazine about Medjugorge (not online unfortunately.) Medjugorge was not touched by the war because the Croatians were shamelessly using it to generate foreign exchange. Alleged "miracles" were staged to keep the money flowing in.

I hope that there are other paths to peace that do not involve self- delusion. I know that this forum is popular with a lot of programmers, and we tend to be overly literal in requiring things to actually be true.

The last post on this topic contained a reference to a site with an opposing viewpoint, but I don't have time to look it up now.

" I've been to Medjugorje twice, have turned my life over to God, and I have to tell you anything could happen and nothing could steal my "light." In prayer one finds peace.

Yes, well...I certainly and sincerely do hope folks achieve this peace and that it isn't short-lived or interrupted. Whatever works.

The famous line though is that there's nothing quite so peaceful as a corpse. I'm not turning my life and the responsibility for my and my son's well-bring over to anyone. Not God, FEMA, federal or local governments. The bottom line is that help from God or any corner is certainly appreciated but it's my preps that our the basis for our continued survival here. If the stores are short on rations we have food here. Should some crazed looter show up and threaten us I have the firepower to deal with them if need be. If someone releases a nasty virus we have NBC gear. Frankly I believe GOD would more inclined to help those that at least tried to take responsibility as we have over someone that just mouthed the words and pressed the button on the remote to switch to the "700 Club".

There's many ways to look at this. I prep, God can put efforts into helping those who can't help themselves. Perhaps God will help us, I won't need our preps and we can share them with others. I'm a volunteer disaster worker and certainly have seen the need in the past. In any case I believe preps are essential as is the taking of personal responsibility to the extent we can. Not trying to rain on anyone's faith, hope it sustains you, here just sharing my thoughts.

A friend,

Hey, I wasn't being a smart ass. I had heard of Medjugorje long before the Balkan bloodshed (the latest Balkan bloodshed). I had even considered going there to seek a cure, even tho I am not very worthy. So I was truly curious to know how it fared during the recent warfare. I havn't heard anything about it. Thanks for the update.

Lars-

Just a little FWIW. All attempts to bomb Medjugorje have failed. Even when bombs were dropped directly overhead, they exploded in the air. The people in the village have been hit hard in terms of living conditions and many refugees have found their way there; thus the housing that was created for the pilgrims has been put to good use.

Believing in it's authenticity does not fly in the face of Rome; moreover, it certainly does not preclude prepping :) (This last was not directed towards you, Lars.)

The negative website on Medjugorje is a slanderous, terrible thing to read with inaccuracies abounding. Several of these inaccuracies portray very close friends as monsters, when I have direct evidence to the contrary.

Anyway, whatever your beliefs, may they sustain you in the times ahead.

Lars, I will say a prayer or two for you and your needed healing.

God Bless us all.

For Don,

They can kill the body, but they can't kill the soul. A person is better prepared and protected with a prayer or a rosary in hand than doing it all on their own, "Apart from me you can do nothing."

And BTW, I too, have been preparing - something you assumed I have not been doing apparently - wood stove, wood, water, food etc etc. It is prayer that has led me to do these things. God is in control of whether I live or die, and it is He who "makes all things work together unto good for those WHO LOVE HIM." A little faith will go a long way in the coming days and bring much peace amidst any chaos. Try it.

Dear a friend, my heartfelt apologies, it was a rude statement on my part and I'm ashamed I posted it. May everything turn our great for both our families and friends.
