Milwaukee TV station to have Y2k phone bank 12/28, volunteers needed

On Tuesday, 12/28, WTMJ-TV, Channel 4, the local NBC affiliate in Milwaukee, will have a full day of Y2k news coverage on its local news shows. In conjunction with their coverage, they will have a phone bank set up to answer questions about personal preparation.

They had a similar phone bank set up to answer questions after "Y2K: The Movie". They were flooded with hundreds of calls, and the station was very impressed not only with the response but with the manner in which callers' questions were responsibly answered.

I have volunteered to answer phone calls for two of the newscasts. A few more volunteers are needed. The following times need to be staffed: Early morning (I will verify the exact time, but I believe it's between 5 and 7 a.m.), 11a.m. - Noon (I'll be on that "shift"), 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (For both the 4 and 6 o'clock newscasts), and 10 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (I hope to be there for this shift as well).

If you are interested in more information, or would like to volunteer, please e-mail me.
