The Blame Game

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

IF there are significant infrastructure failures abroad, I imagine that the US, rightly or wrongly, is going to be blamed for some of the problems.

Do you think Russia will blame America for its problems? How about China or the Middle East? Do you think governments will use the U.S. as a scapegoat? If so, what might be the fallout?

Inquiring minds want to know your thoughts. Thanks.

Rev. 17:16 KJV

"And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire."

Some have speculated that the real problem will be the Islamic nations, such as Iran, who will experience major problems. They will blame the great satan for not only making the problem, but they may claim this was done to them on purpose. Some feel this will give them the excuse for starting the Jihad or holy war against the west.

smfdoc : I'm Muslims and I believe you calling us 'a problem' is very offensive, same as the Oklohoma bombing when they blamed us with out one single thing leading to us. Is it hate I wonder ? And no Iran is not onsidered 'Islamic' by many other Islamic nations educate yourself more about Islam ( http://www.islam.org ) before accusing 1.6 billion people around the world. (9 million in USA alone) (Iran is considered "Shia'a", but they call them selves muslims)

P.S: Didn't the US call the USSR the Evil Empire ?

With respect to Iran, Iranians would have every right to blame us. It seems that when the Shah was in power( early 70's), we sold Iran a significant amount of technology. Guess what, it is not Y2K compliant. The government of Iran has requested our help in remediating the problems, but companies that could provide the fixes are prohibited by the U.S. Government from doing so.

I believe that I read this here about a week ago. I'll see if I can find a URL.

Ashton and Leshka......that's probably why he had a $50 million dollar bunker built for Y2K......I read in a recent newsletter that it really cost u s $250 million, not the $50 million that was first reported.
