I had been to an eye hospital yesterday. Conversation went like this:Me: Can you tell me how many digits you see on the screen for the year part of the date? (I can't use words like 'Y2K-compliant', they wouldn't understand!)
Receptionist: You mean the 99 part. I see only 2 digits.
Me: Do you know that in another 2 weeks, your computer and software may not work.
Receptionist: They said so. They said they will change it.
(The receptionist seemed uninterested in further conversation. He was busy printing prescriptions and bills. I was appalled. I didn't imagine Indian hospitals got so computerized.
And he says 'they will change it'. As a software engineer, the only thing that I can see changed in 2 weeks is diapers!)

The scary thing is you guys have such talented programmers, unfortunately they are all too busy fixing code in the USA! (I speak from experience working with 5 Indians on my last contract at VISA)- innit.
