Anyone w/info re: So CA 12-26-99. Know there was a thread a while back (can't recall if it was credible and substantiated) along the lines of closing down roads, etc on 12-26. Parents are spending Christmas there w/sister and will be leaving afternoon of 26th. They've asked if I could find out any information, as they would leave sooner if needed.

The National Guard is going to be on standby in all cities aren't they?

Captain,

Early rumors had been giving a date of the 26th, but more recent rumors suggest a date of the 28th...if you can believe them. It's kinda like the old CDC itself, no one knows for sure. I'd be more inclined to think that they'll wait until the 27th to call the troops out and start the party on the 28th...IF that's what they are planning. Press reports indicate that the National Command Bunker -- oooppppsss I mean "Center" is supposed to go operational on the 28th...HOWEVER, :-) Ah yes, always the caveat, huh? However, a report in the last day or so indicated that the Command "Center" was having a few unspecified "millenium bug" problems of its own, so who knows?

Remember, it's all a rumors at this point, albeit unsettling rumors.

A family member is a two-star General in the National Guard.
