If NASA Frets About Y2K, Who Can Be Sure?

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/19991225/tc/yk_countdown_2.html

Quote:

"NASA mission managers not only wanted the space shuttle Discovery, launched on December 17, in its hanger with all systems powered down by December 31. They also want all the computers at Mission Control in Houston and at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida turned off before the calendar rollover."

Gee, they must be 'doomers', huh ?

A bit sarcastic I'd say!.......

Since when has anyone been accused of being a doomer for taking reasonable precautions?

Nah......a doomer is a schoolbus-burying, shotgun weilding, in-your- face 'we're all gonna die' chemtrail spotting, NWO obsessed, 10 years supply of toilet paper wacko...........

This has been the biggest problem IMHO.....the extremists have hijacked Y2K and the reasonable preparation proponents have been silenced by shouts of "Polly" by the extremists.

At times this place has been like an asylum......brain-dead zombies walking around in a trance screaming.."It's TEOTWAWKI......It's a 10.......We're all gonna die.....AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.......let's shoot somebody....hahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha......."

Craig, yes it was sarcasm.

And yes, I agree with what you said.

I hate this place, I love this place. I cant wait until Y2k is over so I can stop visiting here, but at the same time I would miss it if it went down due to Y2k.

Craig,

Your emotional outburst does nothing to address the crux of the problem. Further, it clouds rational thinking as well as the decision for those fence sitters reading this forum whether or not to begin to prepare, even at this late date.

As to your premise that "doomers" are somehow "the stupid ones", well, that doesn't pass the laugh test. Sure, some "doomers" are right wing nuts. Still, they have their supplies. Do Pollys have any?

Now, you tell me, who are the "stupid" ones?

As for NASA, that is a hierarchy where the Director is ordering Y2K precautions to be made. It's nonnegotiable whether or not NASA employees must comply. They must. Still, I can't help but wonder how many of these NASA employees who are directly engaged in preparing NASA for possible Y2K related disruptions, are totally unprepared at home for Y2K disruptions.

I bet those unprepared at home are 100% Pollys. I bet 0% that are unprepared at home are doomers.

Craig, I know the stress is hard to handle. It's only 6 more days. Do what you can to help the situation. Use these 6 days to reflect on your own successes instead of thrashing out at others in anger. Some of us still think we have a chance to reach a few more people these last 6 days and help them prepare. The more focused this forum stays, the better.

Thanks,

GoldReal, I gotta disagree with you. Imagine a newbie coming here one night in a fit of desperation and finding contrails, nwo, gun grab, microchip-in-hand-implants, King Klinton chatter, people saying the FEDs bombed oklahoma,

(*continued)

etc, all those sorts of things and the newbie will just shake their head and move on. The "doomers", and I dont mean people who are just heavily preparing, but TRUE DOOMERS hurt this place worse than posts like Craigs.

hamster,

Obviously, I am appealing for a higher level of reasoning.

Craig, has it ever occurred to you that YOU may be a psychotic lunatic?

Come on, look at his email, he's a Canadian.

If he is a psychotic lunatic, he's a polite one.

Part of the problem is the definition of the term "doomer." There are doomers and then there are DOOMERS. The same is true for pollys.

I guess I am a "halfling." I expect a 5 and I am prepared for a 8+. I don't think that makes me a "doomer" or a "polly." I prefer to sit out the doomer-polly wars, although I have to admit that most doomers have a lot more class than most the spamming, jerk-off pollies who ARE STARTING TO PISS ME OFF!

Oops! Did I say that? Sorry.

Nothing like a good Love/Hate relationship to keep you coming back for more!
